THE ELECTRIC PRUNES \ 1968 MASS IN F MINOR

ELECTRIC PRUNES \ MASS IN F MINOR
For the fans of E.P this album in 1968 was a surprise, but for aficionados of failed and bizarre concept records of the late '60s, it's definitely worth investigating. The eight tracks on this religious-based rock opera (with lyrics sung in Latin!) were written, arranged, and conducted by classical composer David Axelrod and spurred on by then-Prunes manager Lenny Poncher and record producer Dave Hassinger. Evidently, all parties involved, including the band, agreed that this project would propel the Electric Prunes from minor-league garage rockers into a finely tuned psychedelic ensemble to be taken seriously as musicians and artists. Unfortunately, the Prunes were not prepared to tackle Axelrod's complex and involved arrangements without a major struggle. In order to keep the sessions from going into costly overtime, Hassinger brought in studio musicians to finish the project.
The results were completely unlike the group's previous two releases, with the majority of the tracks being performed by ad hoc
Prunes. Shortly after the album's release, the original lineup faded into obscurity, taking Mass in F Minor with them. However, an eerie version of "Kyrie Eleison" received fleeting attention when it was featured in the film Easy Rider.

In the beginning was the "Crossfires" in 1963, then came the war in Vietnam and then back in California working and playing what he always knew "surf rock /fusion music".
It was the time that "Pulp Fiction" and Dick Dale's "Missirlou" led the way into the new 3rd wave of Surf music

THE NEW YORK DOLLS - 1974 Too Much Too Soon

THE NEW YORK DOLLS \ 1974 TOO MUCH TOO SOON

The New York Dolls created punk rock before there was a term for it.
They created a new form of hard rock that presaged both punk rock and heavy metal. Their drug-fueled, shambolic performances influenced a generation of musicians in New York and London, who all went on to form punk bands. And although they self-destructed quickly, the band's two albums remain two of the most popular cult records in rock & roll history.

EMERSON LAKE & PALMER - 1973 Brain Salad Surgery

BRAIN SALAD SURGERY 1973

Along with the release of this record in 1973 a friend asked me to write a few words for this record which finally never happened.
Instead, in 2-3 lines today i present my opinion for this record .
What is this record?, what do you expect to hear from the 3 virtuoso band ?.
BSS is an aphorism to the spiritual human destruction from the machine.A contemporary music composition which unfortunately,is very close to today reality than to be considered as something out of real, or a childish gassing.
I can not think of anybody else that can express all this technological stress through his music, except the paranoid composition of Keith Emerson.
This Post is for all of us who want to remember from time to time groups like EMERSON LAKE & PALMER.

DOC HOLLIDAY - 1980 DOC HOLIDAY

DOC HOLLIDAY
During the 1970’s, the glorious Sunshine State of Georgia had been a fertile breeding ground for home grown Southern Rock, amongst others, the Allman Brothers Band, Grinderswitch and the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Doc Holliday, although not universally as well known as those big selling bands were an important and highly valued addition to that linage of respected and revered musicians.
Their first two records ,"1980 Selftitled" and" 1981 Doc Holliday rides again" seems to be their best.

PETER GREEN & NIGEL WATSON - Hot Foot Powder

"Hot Foot Powder" is Peter Green's second album made up entirely of covers of the music by the legendary Delta bluesman Robert Johnson. In fact, with this album and its predecessor," The Robert Johnson Songbook", Green has recorded every song that Robert Johnson is known to have composed and recorded.
Where Johnson often played and sang like a man whose life depended on it, Green plays and sings like a man whose next minute depends on it.

Peter Green's band , the Splinter Group, including Nigel Watson. Dr. John, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Hubert Sumlin, and Joe Louis Walker all make guest appearances on the album, along with Honey Boy Edwards, who knew and performed with Robert Johnson.
