RARE BIRD
Bio :
Rare Bird was a progressive rock band founded in 1969. They were formed in England, but had more success in other European countries than they did at home. Rare Bird came together when organist Graham Field, keyboardist Dave Kaffinetti, drummer Mark Ashton and vocalist Steve Gould envisioned a two-keyboard rock sound without guitars.
They released their debut before the end of the year, featuring the minor radio hit "Sympathy " which is mostly remembered for the haunting, organ based and It sold one million copies globally.
The next year they released As Your Mind Flies By, a dark and heavier album that put further emphasis on Gould's melodramatic singing style. Field and Ashton left the group before Epic Forest, which saw new drummer Fred Kelly bring in guitarist Andy Curtis to revamp their sound into a more folk-oriented direction. Gould also picked up the guitar at this point, and the music became much more about their guitar interplay than anything else. By 1973's Somebody's Watching, interest had waned in their efforts, leaving the group with a dwindling fan base. Still, they managed to release one more album, 1974's Born Again, which featured an entirely different sound than the progressive rock of their first two albums. The band's demise was followed by a collection, Sympathy, which took its material from the first two albums only. Taken from All Music Guide.

STEVE WINWOOD.
A few words for a great artist.

At the age of 15 Winwood became a member of the "Spencer Davis Group "

Still not yet 19 years old, Steve Winwood formed Traffic with three 22-year-old friends who had played in lesser-known bands - drummer/singer Jim Capaldi (August 24, 1944 - January 28, 2005), singer/guitarist Dave Mason (born May 10, 1944), and Chris Wood (June 24, 1944 - July 12, 1983).
Constant artistic differences and personnel changes led to Traffic's final break-up
Later on Steve joined forces with guitarist Eric Clapton as part of the one-off group Eric Clapton's Powerhouse.
He and Mason recorded the Hendrix version of "All along the watchtower" in a London recording studio.Steve Winwood actually only appeared on one track of Electric Ladyland, "Voodoo Chile". In 1969, Winwood once again gave a powerful organ performance on Joe Cocker's With a Little Help from My Friends ,which was originally written by the Beatles for the Sgt. Pepper album.
Steve formed Blind Faith in 1969 with Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Ric Grech. The band was short-lived, because of Clapton's greater interest in Blind Faith's opening act "Delaney & Bonnie & Friends" Eric Clapton left the band after a tour had ended. However, Baker, Winwood and Grech stayed together to form "Ginger Baker's Air Force"
As a solo artist, Steve Winwood is primarily associated with the highly polished blue-eyed soul-pop that made him a star in the '80s.
Possessed of a powerful, utterly distinctive voice, Winwood was also an excellent keyboardist who remained an in-demand session musician for most of his career, even while busy with high-profile projects. That background wasn't necessarily apparent on his solo records, which established a viable commercial formula that was tremendously effective as long as it was executed with commitment.
In 2008, Winwood was ranked #33 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time.
