POINT BLANK BIOGRAPHY Although musically easily in the same league as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchetand other great U.S. acts, Point Blank didn’t seem to enjoy the same acclaim asthese other bands. They were formed in the mid seventies by guitarists RustyBurns and Kim Davis, vocalist John O’Daniel, drummer Buzzy Gruen and bassistPhillip Petty. Between 1976 and 1981 they released a total of six albums. PointBlank was a band that toured constantly averaging more than 250 one nightersannually and lived by the adage “When the Going gets tough – the tough gotouring.” After musical differences, management difficulties and other conflictsthe band decided to shut it down. “POINT BLANK IS THE GREAT UNSUNG SOUTHERN ROCK BAND,ANDTHEY MIGHT HAVE BEEN DENIED THE SPOTLIGHT FOR TWO REASONS –ONE, THEY WERE FROM A LITTLE LEFT OF THE DIAL, FROM TEXAS, ANDTWO, THEY ROCKED TOO HARD AND ORNERY FOR RADIO TASTES. WHILE THE OTHER BANDS – ALMOST TO A SHAMEFUL MAN – TONEDDOWN THE RHETORIC AND THE RAUNCH TO CHASE THE DOLLAR,POINT BLANK CONTINUED TO MAKE HAND-CRAFTED ROOTS ROCKWITH INTEGRITY AND HEART FOR MILES.” MARTIN POPOFF, AUTHOR – SOUTHERN ROCK REVIEW courtesy taken from: www.pointblanksouthernrock.com POINT BLANK - 1976 Tracks : 1.
