CAN - Unlimited Edition 1976

CAN \ UNLIMITED EDITION 1976.
This expanded version of "Limited Edition" is pretty interesting collection of odds and ends between 1969-75.
Of particular interest are early 1969 tracks recorded with Malcolm Mooney as vocalist - presumably leftovers from the "Monster Movie" sessions
.

CAN - Future Days 1973

CAN \ FUTURE DAYS 1973.
The final CAN album featuring Damo Suzuki as vocalist is probably the most accomplished one. It is very different from their earlier works and it introduces the band offering highly atmospheric, almost ambient music.
There are no ups and downs; listening adventure is mostly linear but that doesn't mean it is monotonous. On the contrary - it is a wonderful music of atmosphere.
Production is superb for the time being and most of the engineering and editing credits go to Holger Czukay and Irmin Schmidt who successfully experiment with various keyboards, synths, sound effects and "soundscapes", sometimes reminiscent of Brian Eno's later works.

CAN - Ege Bamyasi 1972

CAN \ EGE BAMYASI 1972.

The fourth CAN album is another excellent addition to a collection of progressive rock.On this album, there's a slight Middle Eastern influence, no doubt for the fact they named their album after a can of Okra they found in a Turkish restaraunt in Germany. "Ege Bamyasi" has everything the neophyte listener needs to understand why CAN was such a musical force. It’s all here: the rhythmically busy, near paranormal jamming; the quieter, more hypnotic ballads.

Line-up/Musicians

- Holger Czukay / bass
- Michael Karoli / guitar
- Jaki Liebezeit / drums
- Irmin Schmidt / keyboards
- Damo Suzuki / vocals

CAN - Monster Movie 1969

CAN - Delay 1968

A few words.
CAN is one of a few internationally known "Krautrock" groups; they are famous for their repetitive and hallucinatory sound. CAN was founded in 1968 by LIEBEZEIT, Irmin SCHMIDT and Holger CZUKAY, and in their early days they also included American singer Malcolm MOONEY or Japanese vocalist Damo SUZUKI.
They transformed progressive-rock into a science. By bridging classical music, jazz music and rock music of their times, CAN accomplished the first organic study on rhythm and texture. Their hypnotic and glacial instrumental jams straddled the line between free-jazz, acid-rock and chamber music.

CAN's music can be difficult to appreciate, yet their albums offer some of the best experimental rock ever recorded. Then there are always the myths, the legends and the fascination.

CAN will be remembered as one of the great 20th century bands. I've listened to their music over and over again. These 7 albums i posted regarded as their best, from Delay to Monster Movie, from Tago Mago to Future Days, from Egge Bamyasi to their famous"Soon Over Babaluma".

Enjoy the golden era of KrautRock!!

CAN \ DELAY 1968

This album originally came out in the early 1980s but covers roughly the same period (late 1968 and much of 1969) as their debut album, "Monster Movie" and likewise features their original singer, Malcolm Mooney.
