DR. JOHN - City That Care Forgot 2008

DR. JOHN \ CITY THAT CARE FORGOT 2008.

Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, Ani Difranco and Terence Blanchard join Dr. John and the Lower 911 in this musical paean to Dr. John's beloved New Orleans. This powerful new recording features stirring and thought-provoking songs about the post-Katrina crises in the ravaged jewel of the American South, including "City That Care Forgot," "Time for a Change,"Promises, Promises," "We Gettin' There" and many more.
Very good.

DR. JOHN - Cut Me While I'm Hot 1975 -

DR. JOHN \ CUT ME WHILE I'M HOT 1975.

This cd came out in 1995 and the liner notes for this 19-song compilation are brief, but at least have the honesty to admit that "the precise details of the circumstances surrounding these recordings may be lost forever.
" It speculates
that the first half of the outtake-sounding program was cut in New Orleans during the first half of the 1960s, while the latter part dates from L.A. sessions from 1965-1967.
It actually sounds like much of this
postdates the mid-'60s, with a feeling not unlike his early-'70s work. Most of the titles are self-penned, and there are also a few Professor Longhair covers.
Taken from All Music guide.
For Dr.John's fans and not only.
