Bio :
Best known as the drummer in Jimi Hendrix's Band of Gypsys, Buddy Miles also had a
lengthy solo career that drew from rock, blues, soul, and funk in varying combinations. Born George Miles in Omaha, NE, on September 5, 1947, he started playing the drums at age nine, and joined his father's jazz band the Bebops as a mere 12 year old.
Buddy Miles
recorded over 70 albums and performed in numerous world tours, television commercials and videos.
He worked with:
Jimi Hendrix ,Carlos Santana, Herbie Rich, Mitch Mitchell, Jim McCarty, Andre Lewis, Stevie Wonder, Muddy Waters, Michael Bloomfield, Wilson Pickett, Stephen Stills, Neil Young, David Crosby, Jack Bruce, Scott Richardson, Eric Burdon, Peter Torque, Billy Gibbons, Prince,Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmy Vaughan, Rick James, Kool and the Gang, Jr. Brown, Ike Turner, Pinetop Perkins, Jr. Wells, Koko Taylor, Johnny Taylor, Barry White, Aretha Franklin,George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Robert Lockwood, David Bowie, Larry Coryell,Horace Silver,Gil Evans,Freddie Hubbard,Stanley Clark,George Duke,Ron Carter,Peter Gabriel,Mahavisnhu,Miles Davis ,Stemsy Hunter, Bob Hogins, Marcus Doubleday, Billy Cox, Noel Redding, Charlie Karp, Johnny Winter, Al Kooper, Michael Bloomfield and many others.
BUDDY MILES died on February 26, 2008 at his home in Austin, Texas at the age of 60.
